I’ve always wondered just how ancient peoples decided to start eating some of the things we take for granted.
Take potatoes for example, why would someone look at the plant and decide to pull it up to eat the root?
Beets and radishes are nearly as strange, but at least they can sometimes be seen growing out of the ground, the top of the root I mean.
Even onions are odd that anyone would ever try to eat one, I love onions and yet I don’t know if I would have ever been starving enough to try one before they were known to be edible.
