My thoughts on ice cream

I honestly feel that ice cream is one of the best things ever invented, I also assume that it was replaced by sliced bread in the old saying (the best thing since sliced bread), which would mean it used to be the ‘Best thing since ice cream’.

Assuming I’m correct, than sliced bread was once the best thing since ice cream!

Ice cream is wonderful during the summer, it’s a nice treat to beat the heat, I’m sure almost everyone will agree with that.

I think that most flavors of ice cream are good (I don’t eat nuts so I can’t comment on those flavors), but my favorites are Mint Chocolate Chip and Vanilla.

I know what you’re thinking: ‘Vanilla? Vanilla? Who likes that?’ But I do have a reason, I enjoy sprinkling a tiny bit of brown sugar on top of vanilla ice cream, when it mixes with the ice cream it almost becomes like a butterscotch.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream is a wonderful flavor as well, who doesn’t like mint and chocolate? Add in ice cream and you’ve got yourself a winner!

I also like chocolate chips on top of ice cream, but that’s another story.

I know that this was an odd post, but it addresses something that I felt I had to mention. I welcome your comments.

Pretzels, a snack that I believe to be vastly under rated. Sure, they are simple, but they hold so much in their small package. A bit of salt, a slight crunch, the slight… tang? bitterness? burnt taste? It is so hard to describe the taste of a pretzel while doing justice to it.

Pretzels come in so many varieties, tiny, thick, long, short, twists, sticks, something for every one. You can eat them plain, use them with dip, dip them in chocolate even! Beer and pretzels are a cliche, but I prefer mine with root beer.

Next time you pick up a pretzel, don’t just think of it as a snack, take a few seconds to look at it and realize just how wonderful they are and ask yourself this: Could you have invented them?

Tortilia chips

Tortilla chips… a wonderful food. Each chip carefully fried to be just perfect.

But not all of them are created equal, some have too little salt, a very few have too much, some are oily, while others have been treated to the ultimate indignity and baked instead. Some are flat and hard, while others are so thin that they could be used as weapons in an action movie.

The perfect tortilla chip is light, well puffed up, thin and crispy, with just enough salt to give it flavor, but not to the point where it overpowers the taste of the corn, also it shouldn’t taste like oil at all.

Add a nice hot salsa (with ghost peppers please,) and you have the perfect snack… without the salsa they still make a good snack, but just not quite as perfect.

To sum it all up: a perfect tortilla chip is perfection.
